POULTRY & FISH
Country Chickens
The farm also houses country chickens which roam around freely. The chickens feed on the excess grain left in the dry hay and also keep the farm and cow shed clean by feeding on any tiny insects. We started off with 2 chickens in 2020. Currently, there are about 20 chickens and their number is steadily growing.

Freshwater Fish
The two water harvesting ponds are used to cultivate freshwater fish specifically the breeds Tilapia and Pomfret. Fish are caught on a routine basis for sale. The fish lay eggs in the pond and their population increases and the growing cycle continues. Cow dung is put into the ponds. Cow dung carries many phyto- and zoo-planktons for the fish to feed on. Excess water is drained out of the pond to the field at lower elevation and fresh water is let into the pond.
